Reference/Information Assistance

1. The student approaches the librarian/library staff for information.
2. The student is interviewed by the librarian/library staff to determine what specific information or sources are needed.
3. The student is taught how to locate sources using library tools such as the card catalog and vertical file.
4. The student is advised to use additional materials like periodicals to supplement needed information.
5. The librarian makes inquiries to government agencies, offices, libraries, etc., for related publications.
6. The student is advised to personally visit the said agencies if the information is available there.
7. The student is advised to return if the needed information is not immediately available.

Library Orientation/Instruction

At the beginning of the school year, the library, in coordination with the Program Deans or Chairpersons of the Colleges, conducts a library orientation for first-year students and transferees. The orientation includes a short lecture and may also include a library tour.

1. The librarian sends a letter to the College Deans about the orientation schedule.
2. The Program Deans or Chairpersons coordinate and finalize the proposed schedule.
3. The subject teacher is informed of the assigned orientation schedule.
4. Each assigned librarian conducts the lecture, and if needed, facilitates a library tour in the classroom or library.
5. If students have suggestions or recommendations after the orientation, they are encouraged to write them down and drop them in the survey box located near the library entrance.

Stack/Storage Book Service

• Students request materials from the stack room through the librarian or student assistant.
• The librarian or student assistant asks questions to understand what book the student needs.
• Once the book is identified, it is retrieved from the stack or storage room and brought to the reading area.

Library Displays/Exhibits

• New acquisitions are put on display to promote awareness and use.
• The librarian creates a list of new materials and notifies department heads.
• Interested faculty members are encouraged to visit and explore the collection.

Research Assistance

The library provides guidance and support to all students conducting research or working on related academic projects.

Referral Service

The library issues referral letters as official documents that introduce the researcher to other libraries, such as CTU Library. These letters confirm the student's research purpose and academic affiliation.
